Pipe Smoking Information & Resources

Podcasts (available of all the major platforms, like Apple Podcasts and Spotify)

  • Beyond the Pipe

This one is done by two pipe makers, Chris Morgan and Sean Reum. It can be a bit sporadic, with them taking long stretches off. But in the back catalog there are some really good nuts and bolts episodes.

  • Country Squire Radio

One of the co-hosts was Jon David Cole, the owner and blender at the Country Squire, a brick and mortar (with a very strong online store) in Jackson, Mississippi. The show just ended in 2024 after 10 years, but all but the earliest episodes are still available. This is a really great one for basics of pipe smoking, explaining different types of tobaccos, how to taste them, etc. The episode titles and descriptions are quite good at helping you zero in on topics you’re interested in.

  • Get Piped

Same guy as the YouTube channel, with his friend, “the producer guy”, as co-host. They have some really good content-based shows, and some really creative episodes that are maybe lighter on information and more on entertainment. Their focus has been trying to revitalize the pipe community, so it isn’t just geriatrics. As part of that, they started a Discord server called the Get Piped Galactic Pipe Club, which anyone can join using the Discord app on your phone. People post text and picture messages, and it’s a good spot to find information on anything pipe related. There’s a link to join the server here.

  • The Greywoodie Show

The show is hosted by two pipe makers, who are also the organizers of the Capitaland Pipe Show in Albany. Nathan Davis is the owner and maker of Kaywoodie pipes, and Eugene Falco’s brand is UNCANNY?! Material (U?!). The show provides insights into being a pipe maker, fountain pen collectors, and life in general. If you get interested in the history of Sutliff Tobacco and its subsequent demise, they were friends with Jeremy McKenna, CEO of Sutliff, and they have several back episodes with interviews and information not readily available elsewhere. They also have a Discord server, and the link can be found in the Quick Links section at the bottom of the page here.

  • Pipe and Tamper

They have some tobacco review shows, but most of theirs have interview for the first few years were with different artisan pipe makers. The show has just started it’s 3rd iteration with a new co-host, a more regular schedule, and more varied content.

  • Pipes Magazine Radio

The host, Brian Levine, was in the tobacco industry for years. The show has been weekly for over 10 years, and all the past episodes are available. He does an interview with someone each week, ranging from pipe makers to smokers/collectors, and segments including 101 and basics on tobaccos. It’s a great place to look if you get interested in a certain maker since he probably has had an interview.

  • Pipes, Pours, and Pals

This is two guys getting together in a basement to smoke pipes and talk. It’s a fun show to listen to, and they do give you the non-pro take on tobaccos and pipes, which is nice. Their goal for the show is to create a smoking lounge atmosphere for people who don’t have local smoking lounges. So usually a good portion of each show is stream of consciousness, and probably not related to pipe smoking.
